Alex Tart Architects have successfully obtained planning and Listed Building consent to an historic Grade II listed property in Spelthorne, Surrey

The project involves the wholesale renovation of a Grade II listed home in Lower Sunbury Conservation Area. The client acquired a property that had fallen into disrepair and both the main house and wider grounds are in urgent need of renovation. Working closely in conjunction with the client we have established an experienced consultant team in order to fully realise the client’s ambition of a family home which blends the traditional features of the listed property with contemporary elements.

Thus far two applications have been successfully approved. Both substantial extensions and internal alterations to the house and the complete relandscaping of the garden have been consented in full. These alterations serve to create a new large kitchen in a contemporary extension which brings the ground floor together with the lower ground floor within the main house and creates a strong new connection to the garden to facilitate a more alfresco living style. The Lanscape proposals harmoniously draw together our sensitive architectural design with an English Garden design though our collaboration with landscape designers Mazzullo + Russell.

Whilst these approvals serve to create the backbone of the newly renovated family home, complete with master suite, home office and library. We are continuing to look the property’s overall offering via the inclusion of a sensitive Garage. This will provide much needed parking away from the principal property, preserving the listed buildings character.
